There
is no better way for your family to enjoy the
Yukon wilderness lifestyle than by
horseback riding along the winding trails
and open ridges of the Yukon. |
Pack
your camera and do not forget to bring extra
batteries because your six to six and 1/2 hour adventure will
include:

- A
round-trip tour from Skagway
over the White Pass Summit Area
to the Emerald Lake Trail Camp in
the Yukon.
- A
guided trail ride over winding
back country trails and open ridge lines with photo opportunities.
- A complimentary snack and
time to chat with your fellow riders and guide
at the Emerald Lake Cookhouse.
Traveling from Skagway to the Yukon, you will see such sites as...
1) The beautiful Skagway River Valley,
White Pass Summit Area, Tormented Valley,
and the crystal clear watershed of the
Yukon River. |

2)
The pristine wilderness, with its majestic lakes and mountains, of northwestern
British Columbia and southwestern Yukon
Territory. |
3)
The world's smallest desert, which lies
just north of Carcross in the Yukon. |

4) The spectacular colors of Emerald Lake, the most photographed lake in northwest Canada.

At the Emerald Lake Trail Camp you will meet our lead guides, Joni MacKinnon and Heike Graf.
Joni was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon. She graduated from Capilano College in 1982 with a degree in Outdoor Recreation Management. She has been a licensed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking/hiking, and wildlife photography tour guide for over 30 years. |
Heike was born and raised in Germany. She has earned degrees in Occupational Therapy and in Sensory Intergration Therapy. She worked with special-needs children before moving to the Yukon. Living close to the Alps, she developed a passion for mountain biking/hiking and horseback riding.
After saddling up your horse, you will begin your adventure riding over high
country
trails and across open ridge-lines surrounded by vast wilderness . . . |

. . . as you make your way to Emerald Lake you will experience the incredible beauty and tranquility this area is known for. |
As you approach Emerald Lake, your guided horseback ride will overlook this crystal clear "Caribbean" like water. . . |

. . . where you can take advantage of another "once in a lifetime" photo opportunity on the Yukon Horseback Adventure Tour. |
Continuing
through the back country, you will
arrive at the Emerald Lake
Trail Camp and head down to the rustic cookhouse to
enjoy a snack and chat with
your tour guides and fellow riders. |

After
a snack and chatting with your tour guides and fellow riders,
you will head back to Skagway with photos
to keep, memories to hold, and tales to
tell of this spectacular Yukon horseback riding experience
which you will cherish for a lifetime. |
ATTENTION:
For those in your party who would rather go mountain bike riding and hiking, they can opt for the Yukon Mountain Bike and Hike Adventure Tour at the same time and place as your horseback riding adventure. The scenery viewed while on horseback or bike is nearly identical, and the best part is, you can ride together and take family/group pictures on the way to and from the Emerald Lake Trail Camp as both tours use the same bus! |
